~ Claiming Characters ~
1. All newbies are entitled to up to three characters. These can either be canon characters (if any are available openings) or original characters.
2. The more active you are in the RP, the more characters are you entitled to have. If you do well with the characters you already have, then you can request for more, but please only place a request after you have displayed that you are an eager and avid player. There is no use in claiming more characters if you are not going to use them.
3. If you are a good writer and active RPer, then characters are limitless for you, and you may role play as many as you are able to handle. The mods will most likely know when you achieve such a status.
4. There are certain characters we do not allow in this RP. These include cubs, rogue and/or loner lions (there MAY be an exception, but I wouldn't try it), indecisives (you're either with the Alliance or the Pridelanders, no in-betweens), and any other type of animal other than lions. ***(If you would like to play a leopard that is part of the Pensain Empire, that's alright, but you might want to double-check if it's OK first. Also, we have two meerkats in this RP. We highly discourage any more meerkats, as they serve little purpose to the storyline. However, again, if you're able to give us a good reasoning or plot idea for said character, we might make an exception.)
5. No new prides. You're either a Pridelander, a Dark Havener, an Oasiser, or a Pensian.
6. Once you have claimed a character, you must post a biography about them on the OOC and include their name, what species they are, if they are a male or female, their character description (what they look like, mostly), and character history (their background). For examples of how to do this, please head on over to the Characters page.
~ When Posting ~
1. If anything, please try and use good grammar. It is much more professional and enjoyable to read well-written text and proper English. Unintentional mistakes here and there are OK, but we beg of you- if you have grammar issues, then please use a grammar and spellchecker before posting.
2. Please don't use a great deal of profanity in your posts. The occassional swear word is fine, or rantings, or even implications. All I'm asking is for you to not over-do it. This is Lion King, not your emo soap-box!
3. If you are using a character in a post other than your own, please make sure you have that character's owner's permission first before posting. This is out of courtesy and lessens the likelihood of complications.
4. Always write in past tense and in third person. This is not only beneficial for our readers, but is more comprehensive and all-around is more professional and sounds better. If you're confused on the differences between them, here are some examples:
Present and First Person (Bad): I walk out of the cave and look out over the horizon.
Past and Third Person (Good: Simba walked out of the cave and looked out over the horizon.
5. Please post all characters in seperate posts. This basically means that if you own more than one character, each character deserves a new post of its own, unless you have two or more characters that are in the same scene.
~ The OOC ~
1. The OOC stands for 'Out Of Character', and is basically the place where all the discussions go on. This can vary to accepting new members, posting new biographies of characters, asking questions, getting ideas sorted out, mentioning things, etc. etc. It's the place for anything and everything that is not the role play itself.
2. All regular RP members are required to be a part of the OOC. If you're not a member of both communities (both linked above) then you're missing out. Both are vital.
3. If you have some artwork or fanart of the RP you'd like to share with us, it's quite welcome, and the OOC is the place to put it so that it can later be added to the website.
4. All new character biographies belong in the OOC, NOT the roleplay.
~ Other ~
1. Please try and post at least once a week, but the more you post, the better. If you're going on vacation or are sick and cannot post for a while, please let us know ahead of time so we don't think you left the RP and hand your character(s) over to someone else.
2. Try and be friendly with the other RP members. Just try and get along the best you can, and if there's a serious problem, contact a moderator.
3. Some people prefer to have seperate RP journals for using only to RP their characters with. This is not required, but you're more than welcome to do this if it is of your choosing.
4. You are required to use icons of your characters when posting in the RP (but in the OOC it doesn't matter). For example, if you are posting as Nala, your icon needs to be of Nala. We prefer a generic icon with a picture and then their name under or to the side of the picture. This not only gives us a visual of your character, but makes the RP a lot better. If you have an original character and do not have an icon for them and are unable or simply don't wish to make one yourself, Katse, LJ username katse_, makes wonderful icons for all those who require them. Simply send her a request on the OOC and include a good description of what you want you'd like, and she'll kindly do it for you.
IF YOU DO NOT FOLLOW THESE RULES, THERE WILL BE CONSEQUENCES!!!
